6 Greek Islands Perfect for Your Honeymoon

Are you looking for a romantic and picture-perfect place for your honeymoon? Greece should be at the top of your list. Nothing could beat an intimate dinner as the sun sets while you are overlooking a beautiful village, and the view extends to the calming, blue sea. Greece has over 6,000 islands, so visitors like you are spoiled with choice. To help you narrow your choices down, I have selected six of the most beautiful destinations this country has to offer. Here are 6 Greek islands perfect for your honeymoon destination:

Santorini

Village of Oia, Santorini, Greece

Santorini is the most advertised destination in Greece. You have probably seen several photos of blue domes overlooking whitewashed villages. This island was formed thousands of years ago due to a volcanic eruption, and as a result, villages sit on top of cliff sides.

For first-time visitors, I highly suggest you visiting Oia, the most well-known town located in the northern part of Santorini. Also, check out the villages of Imerovigli ( mostly famous for its beautiful sunsets) and the capital of Santorini, Fira. In Fira, you can rent beach daybeds all day, and they will also provide you with bottle service and rosé.

Mykonos

The island of Mykonos is best known for its white beaches and nightlife. If you want to party hard, this is the place for you. Party with models and drink good Greek bottles party pads like Nammos Mykonos and Scorpios Mykonos.

However, there’s so much more in Mykonos than its party scene. It is geographically larger than the more famous Santorini, which means you can explore villages where you can appreciate Greek culture and architecture better.

Paros

Beautiful Naoussa village, Paros island, Greece

Add Paros to your itinerary if you want a great mix of villages, beaches, and nightlife. Paros is a large and hilly island that gets more popular every year but remains more peaceful than Santorini and Mykonos.

Your Paros trip won’t be complete if you don’t visit Antiparos – a small island just off the Paros coast. You might even run into Madonna or Tom Hanks! Rumor has it they both own homes here. The vibe is rustic and chill, perfect for honeymooners who want to have a quick escape – but somewhere not too far – from the party scene.

Crete

I think Crete is an underrated destination in Greece. This island is one of those located in the southernmost portion of the Mediterranean, making it a perfect honeymoon destination at any time of the year. It is also accessible and affordable. So if budget and timing are some of your considerations, Crete might be the perfect place for you.

Be sure to visit the Elafonisi Beach, the stretch of pink beach sand you have probably seen making rounds on the internet. You might have never thought this was in Greece. And of course, Crete boasts of its exemplary cuisine. Try their locally-made Feta and raki – a clear spirit made of grape pressings unique in Crete.

Rhodes

Grand Master’s Palace Rhodes

If you want to get to know Greek history and visit its beaches at the same time, Rhodes Island is perfect for you. It is a famous honeymoon destination because it is covered with sunshine no matter what time of the year you visit it. The beaches in Rhodes are indeed a sight to behold and best experienced on a sunny day.

Rhodes is also a center of Greek history. Rhodes Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you will find The Palace of the Grand Master, synagogues, Roman ruins, Byzantine churches, and many more historical landmarks and architecture.

Naxos

If you want a true village experience, you should check out Naxos. This island is not known as a tourist destination but has preserved its old-world vibe, quiet beaches, and agricultural activity. Naxos is perfect for couples who want a calm honeymoon while enjoying Greek beaches and immersing themselves in Greek culture.

The people on Naxos island are relaxed. Its locals are unhurried and love to weave loom during the afternoon. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are famous sports on the island. Expect a good mix of past and present Greek cultures during your stay in Naxos.

Final Thoughts

No doubt, Greece is a famous honeymoon destination. But not everyone knows there are so many islands choose from outside of the usual locations featured online. If you need more information on how you can book that perfect honeymoon vacation in Greece, please send me a message, and I’ll be glad to help out.
